Bota studied International Relations before coming to water sector. In the period of 2011-2018 she worked for International Fund for Saving the Aral sea and Natural Resources Institute at Kazakh-German University on capacity building projects across the Aral Sea basin.

She possesses Master degree in Integrated Water Resources Management and in Water Cooperation and Diplomacy.
