National Student Olympiad on IWRM in Afghanistan

8th of April national student contest on “integrated water resources management” was held at Kabul Polytechnique University (KPU). The contest was realized in partnership with UNESCO Chair on Water Management in Central Asia of Kazakh-German University (DKU)

Aim of the contest:

·       Creating conditions for the interaction of young professionals.

·       Identifying the most talented young specialists who in the future will become the personnel reserve of the authorized ministry / department.

·       to identify opportunities for the practical implementation of IWRM and SDGs.

The event was attended by over 110 participants of the competition as well as non-governmental organizations, international agencies and public servants.

The first stage (national) is carried out at the discretion of national ministries and scientific institutions (academies and universities) in order to identify the most talented young specialists who in the future will become the personnel reserve of the authorized ministry / department. The national stage of the Olympiad was held on April 8, 2019 at the Kabul Polytechnic University (KPU).

 

At the end of the competition, participants were awarded certificates and according to the results of the competition, three received from 1st to 3rd places, respectively: 

1.Mohammad Hussain Shayan
2. Enayatullah Rahmati
3. Mohammad Hussain Mahdyar

National stage winner also invited to participate in the Regional Olympiad on IWRM in Almaty, held as part of the International Summer School in the Aral Sea from 11-18 of August 2019.
