24th of May 2019 national student contest on “Integrated Water Resources Management” was held in the Tajik Agrarian University named after Shohtemur. The contest was realized in partnership with UNESCO Chair on Water Management in Central Asia of Kazakh-German University (DKU).
Aim of the contest: provide a platform for dialogue and knowledge transfer between young specialists and experts and capacity building of future specialists in the field of water resources management.
The competition was attended by 37 students of different universities.
Within the contest, there were held:
a scientific seminar dedicated to the Water Day,
a master class from representatives of ministries and departments with presentations of student projects.
The presentations mentioned opportunities for youth empowerment in the water sector in Central Asia, reforms in the water sector, resources and quality of groundwater deposits, and assessed the potential for sustainable use of water resources in Tajikistan.
At the end of all stages of the national student contest, participants were awarded certificates of participation, and the awarding of winners was held. The 1-3 places were taken by:
1. Askaraliyev Tilek;
2. Tabyldayev Amantur;
3. Kylychbekova Saltanat.
The winner of the national stage is also invited to participate in the Regional IWRM Olympiad in Almaty, held as part of the First Aral Sea summer school from August 11 to 18, 2019.
